Choix Photos

At least 500 million women and girls globally lack supplies and / or facilities for even the most basic self-care for themselves around their periods and menstrual hygiene. In Haiti, girls and women often are subject to shame, hiding, and taught that they are dirty when they have their period, creating systemic exclusion in so many ways. Many girls do not go to school during this time and, because of so many missed classes, eventually drop out. Others contract illness or disease because of poor access to sanitary pads or bathrooms. At the Choix, we seek to remove barriers to education, especially for girls like these Choix 9th and 10th graders in this photo, wherever possible. We are so thrilled to announce that we will be partnering with the extraordinary organization Cycle Forward (www.CycleForwardNow.org) (and its equally impressive director, Sophie Draluck) to provide these invaluable supplies to our Choix females! Thank you Cycle Forward and Sophie for your contributions and for your vital work ensuring dignity, respect, integrity and opportunities to girls and women throughout the world.
Our graduates always are an important part of our activities. #AlwaysAChoixStudent
